Opening of the Grothendieck archives at Montpellier

The Grothendieck archives, which are physically hosted at the University of Montpellier, are now argely available online under open access. The full archive can be found here. The official announcement follows.

Dear Colleagues,

it is with great excitement and enthusiasm the we announce that – after months of negotiations – we are now able to put in open access on the internet an important part of Montpellier Grothendieck’s archives. These contain about 18000 out of 28000 pages of scanned notes, and actually almost all of the public ones.

The address of the full archive is:

grothendieck.umontpellier.fr

It is a very important event for our local mathematical community, and in particular for the algebraic geometers, and we are happy to share it with you.

In the years to come we expect to organize events/conferences to honour the memory of Grothendieck, spread out his legacy, and maybe discuss some “lost gem” that will be found in our archives…

On the behalf of all the IMAG department in Montpellier,

All the best,
Michele Bolognesi
