Yulia Gorginian (IMPA) will speak in the geometry seminar at 2pm on 29th April, in the Salle des Profs (9th floor of building NO). Yuila’s title is “Complex curves in hypercomplex nilmanifolds” and her abstract is below.
Nilmanifolds are compact manifolds, which admit a transitive action of a nilpotent Lie group. If the nilpotent Lie group is equipped with a left-invariant (hyper-)complex structure, then the corresponding nilmanifold is called a (hyper-)complex nilmanifold. It is well known that complex nilmanifolds, except tori, are non-Kahler. We will show that a general twistor deformation of a hypercomplex nilmanifold admits no complex curves. This result generalizes the known results for generic tori and some hyperkahler manifolds.
