Vincent Beck (Université de Tours) will speak in the geometry seminar on Tuesday 27 November, at 1.30pm in the Salle de Profs. Vincent’s title is Compact flat manifolds constructed from complex reflection groups and his abstract is below.
It is a standard fact that flat manifolds may be constructed from the so called Bieberbach groups which are special cases of crystallographic groups. From the other side, we can attach to each complex reflection groups, a braid group. This braid group has a canonical quotient which is a crystallographic group. Marin has determined when these crystallographic groups are Bieberbach groups and also when the associated manifold is a Kähler manifold. We will present its work and further extensions.
