Ursula Hamenstädt (Bonn) will speak in the geometry seminar on 07/03/2023 at 2pm, in the Salle des Profs, 9th floor of building NO. Ursula’s title is “Stability of Einstein metrics and applications” and her abstract is below.

*We explain how to use an implicit function theorem to construct an Einstein metricon a closed manifold near a metric which is almost hyperbolic in a suitable sense, highlighting geometric mechanism of the argument. Applications include a new proof of hyperbolization of closed 3-manifolds of large Heegaard distance. This is based on joint work with Frieder Jaeckel.*
