Ursula Hamenstädt (Bonn) will speak in the geometry seminar on 07/03/2023 at 2pm, in the Salle des Profs, 9th floor of building NO. Ursula’s title is “Stability of Einstein metrics and applications” and her abstract is below.
We explain how to use an implicit function theorem to construct an Einstein metric
on a closed manifold near a metric which is almost hyperbolic in a suitable sense, highlighting geometric mechanism of the argument. Applications include a new proof of hyperbolization of closed 3-manifolds of large Heegaard distance. This is based on joint work with Frieder Jaeckel.
