Shuhan Jiang (Max Planck Leipzig) will speak in the geometry seminar on 8th April at 2pm in the Salle des Profs (9th floor building NO). Shuhan’s title is “Generalized Seiberg-Witten functional” and his abstract is below.
In this talk, I will introduce a gauge functional whose absolute minimizers are described by the generalized Seiberg-Witten equations. We will demonstrate the smoothness of weak solutions to the second-order Euler-Lagrange equations for an arbitrary gauge group and prove their existence in the abelian case. If time permits, I will also discuss the supersymmetric extensions of the functional and their relationship with SUSY Yang-Mills theories. This is joint work with Wanjun Ai and Juergen Jost.
