Salammbo Connolly will give a geometry seminar on19th October at 2.45pm in the Salle des Profs. (Note the unusual time: this is a double header, with Davide Parise talking at 1.30pm.) Salammbo’s title is “Continuation maps for the Morse fundamental group and Legendrian submanifolds” and his abstract is below.
I will start by explaining how, given a Morse function and a metric on a manifold M, one can get a Morse-theoretic construction of its fundamental group. I will then explain how to build “continuation maps” which are functorial for the Morse fundamental group. Finally, I will adapt this discussion to the study of Legendrian submanifolds of contact manifolds and their Lagrangian fillings.
