Lorenz Swachhöffer will give the geometry seminar on Tuesday 24th October at 1.30pm. The talk will take place in the Salle de Profs (9th floor of building NO). His title is “Parametrized measure models” and the abstract is below.
In recent years, attempts have been made to utilize methods from differential geometry in Probability Theory. It is the aim of this talk to present a rigorous set-up of these ideas by establishing the notion of parametrized measure models. With this, some statistically defined notions such as information loss or estimators of probability distributions can be defined rigorously, and some of the classically known results from statistics may be improved significantly. This talk is based on joint work with Nihat Ay, Hông Vân Lê and Jürgen Jost.
