Joeri Van der Veken to speak in geometry seminar 25th October

The next geometry seminar will be given by Joeri Van der Veken (Leuven), on Tuesday October 25th at 11am in the Salle de Profs (9th floor of building NO). Joeri’s title is “Lagrangian submanifolds of the homogeneous nearly Kähler S^3xS^3” and his abstract is below.

In this talk we will recall the basics about the homogeneous nearly Kähler manifold S^3 x S^3 and then study its Lagrangian submanifolds. We discuss examples as well as the main tools which are useful in this study, in particular the so-called angle functions, and we classify those Lagrangian submanifolds for which one or more angle functions are constant.

The department of mathematics is in building NO, on the Campus de la Plaine, of the Université libre de Bruxelles. The geometry group is on the 7th floor. This map shows NO, as well as the metro station Delta and entrance 2, which is right by the stop for the number 71 and 72 buses. The number 95 also stops a short walk from the department.
