Giovanni Catino to speak in geometry seminar, May 22

Giovanni Catino (Politecnico di Milano) will speak in the geometry seminar on the 22nd of May. The talk will take place in Salle des Profs at 1h30 pm. Giovanni’s title is Einstein metrics and Ricci solitons and his abstract is below.

In this talk I will review some classical classification and rigidity results for Einstein metrics and Ricci solitons. In particular, I will present a new Bochner-type identity on four-dimensional Einstein manifolds (obtained in collaboration with P. Mastrolia) and a recent uniqueness result for compact shrinking Ricci solitons in dimension four.

The department of mathematics is in building NO, on the Campus de la Plaine, of the Université libre de Bruxelles. The geometry group is on the 7th floor. This map shows NO, as well as the metro station Delta and entrance 2, which is right by the stop for the number 71 and 72 buses. The number 95 also stops a short walk from the department.
