Damien Gayet (Grenoble) will speak in the geometry seminar on Wednesday 21st September, at 2pm, in the Salle des Profs, 9th floor, building NO. (Please note the unusual day.) His title is “Percolation of random nodal domains” and his abstract is below.
In this talk, I will present a percolation phenomenon for the sign of random functions on the real plane: if R is rectangle, then there exists a positive constant c, such that for any s>0, there exists a component of {f > 0} which crosses sR in its length. Here, f is an analytic function taken at random in a very natural infinite dimensional space. This is a joint work with Vincent Beffara.
