Anna Roig-Sanchis to speak in geometry seminar 25/05/2026

AnnaRoig-Sanchis (Nice) will speakin the geometry seminar on 25th May. Anna’s title is “Minimal surfaces with negative curvature in large dimensional spheres” and her abstract is below. Anna’s talk will be at 2pm in the Salle des Profs (9th floor of building NO). There will be a second geometry seminar afterwards, given by Gonzalo Cao. The title of Gonzalo’s talk is “The Schiffer conjecture on the half-sphere” and clicking on that title will bring up Gonzalo’s abstract.

Be warned: since the 25th May is a holiday, the building will be shut. If you do not have a pass card and need help getting inyou should contact a local (for example Joel Fine).

In this talk, I will present joint work with Michele Ancona, François Labourie, and Jérémy Toulisse, in which we prove that every sphere of sufficiently large dimension contains a closed minimal surface with negative induced curvature, thereby giving a positive answer to a question of S.T. Yau.
