Algebraic geometry workshop, Georgia USA, August 26-29, 2016

This summer, August 26-29 2016, there will be a workshop in algebraic geometry held in Georgia, USA. More details can be found in the original announcement below.

We are writing to inform you of the University of Georgia Summer Workshop in Algebraic Geometry (UGA-SWAG) that will take place in Athens, Georgia (USA), from August 26 to August 29, 2016. It will be an instructional program for graduate students and young PhDs focused on the topic “Moduli spaces of sheaves and their enumerative geometry”. The speakers will give one or two talks on a topic of their choice related to the focus of the workshop, beginning with the necessary background and context for the young audience.

Confirmed speakers include

  • Renzo Cavalieri (Colorado),
  • Howard Nuer (Rutgers),
  • Yu-Jong Tzeng (Minnesota),
  • Jonathan Wise (Colorado),
  • Dmitry Zakharov (New York University).

Further details, including a link to the registration page, are on the workshop website. Some funding is available for the participants. Please use the registration form to request full or partial funding.

The following weekend, Topological Approaches to Algebra and Arithmetic Geometry (TAAAG), a 3 day workshop run for graduate students and early career mathematicians, will take place at UGA. Participants are encouraged to stay in town in Athens and attend both events. We will have a number of activities going on in the math department at UGA in the week between the two workshops.

Both workshops are funded by the AGANT (Algebraic Geometry, Algebra and Number Theory) Research and Training Group at the University of Georgia Mathematics Department, NSF grant DMS-1344994.

We would appreciate it if you could spread the word about UGA-SWAG.

Best regards, Anand Deopurkar, Angela Gibney, Jesse Kass, Nicola Tarasca.
